Sedona is one of my all time favorite locations to photograph adventurous weddings at. If you have your eyes on getting married in Sedona—you’re in the right place. Here’s a list of my favorite recommendations for locations in sedona to get married or elope at.
Cathedral Rock
One of the most popular spots in Sedona: The views are killer, but this spot has gotten busier and busier. Because of this, I only recommend this spot at Sunrise to avoid crowds and guarantee a spot in the parking lot.
Going here at sunrise: There are often very few other people here at sunrise, because of this, you CAN have this spot be your ceremony spot if you’d like and share your vows here! It’s a much more private experience at Cathedral Rock when you go before most people wake up. I know, I know, most people hate the idea of waking up that early. But grab some hot coffee and throw it in a thermos and cheers on the way to the top! Imagine this location practically all to yourself! It’s so dreamy in the morning--trust me! If you really want to do Cathedral Rock on your wedding day, waking up in the wee hours of the morning will be 1000% worth it.
The hike: 1.2 mile round trip hike. While it is short, it is a difficult hike that is all uphill. I always give an hour window to hike up. If you are an avid hiker, this will be a very doable hike. If you are not, it can be challenging but still doable! There are some small bits of rock scrambling along the trail; one difficult spot being where you need to wedge your feet between cracks of two rocks to climb up. Bring appropriate footwear! I have had many couples climb up in their wedding clothes, but you are also able to change up near the top if you’d like! If you choose to change up top, I suggest wearing clothes where it’s easy to slip on your wedding clothes over without getting entirely undressed! (Unless you don’t mind getting a little nakey in nature.)
Yavapai Vista/Point
Small hike: This location requires a small 15-20 minute hike that is more like a nature walk than a hike.
Great for a ceremony spot when having guests: This spot is amazing for couples who want an intimate location (not many people know about this spot!) and has guests who don’t want to do a big hike or are unable to! I still recommend to have everyone squeeze into as few cars as possible for this spot because the parking area is still limited.
Great for sunset or sunrise! Because of where the sun sets and rises, this spot can be great for either or! This spot gives you great views of all the beauty of Sedona. Not as epic views as other locations, but it’s great for an intimate ceremony or a couple who doesn’t want to do a large hike but doesn’t want to be surrounded by strangers!
This location is across from the parking lot of Bell Rock! If you’re interested in this spot, I have pinned this location on Apple maps and can send it to you!
Bell Rock
Better at sunrise, but can still be good at sunset: This location can be very busy, especially on weekends! Because of where the sun sets, I think this location looks better at sunrise! But you can make it work sunrise or sunset! I do not recommend this spot on the weekends, it can be almost impossible to find parking!
Not a good location for a ceremony with guests: There’s not a lot of spots that give enough room for guests and this location is fairly busy, even on weekdays. Can be hard to find parking if you’re trying to find parking for multiple cars!
Crescent Moon Ranch
No hiking involved! This spot is best at sunset. There’s a creek that runs through this location and a beautiful red rock formation. I love this spot if you’re wanting something super chill, no hiking, but wanting a lot of diversity in scenery!
Not a good spot for ceremonies with guests: While there is usually a decent amount of parking, this area is not extremely private. But if you are having a ceremony just the two of you, it is totally possible! I would avoid this place on the weekends!
Lovers Knoll
Beautiful views of Sedona! This spot has pretty much 360 views of Sedona! It’s easy to access and a good spot to take photos at or have a picnic together.
Good area for a ceremony with guests: This place is open and not as well known! Though I would still only recommend this spot on a weekday. There’s also no hiking involved, just a very short walk to a view with a vantage point.
Doe Mountain
Short hike that not a lot of people go to. Beautiful spot for sunrise or sunset. Fun, short climb (1.5 miles roundtrip) to the top of a flat mesa where you can walk around and take in views from all directions. There’s a slick spot towards the top and can be an issue for someone with a fear of heights--so keep that in mind!
Easy enough spot for ceremonies with guests: If your guests are able to do a small hike this is a good spot for a location that is not a typically crowded spot, but is more accessible than a location like Cathedral Rock or Merry Go Round Rock.
Off Roading Locations
Off roading can be SUCH a fun activity to do on your wedding day. There are plenty of Jeep rentals in Sedona. https://www.myejeep.com/ Being one! I also have been working on fixing up my own Jeep to be able to do more off roading for my couples.
Merry Go Round Rock
I wrote an ENTIRE blog on how to elope here! Check it out below.
I also blogged an entire elopement that was at this spot. Check it out below to see what your wedding day at this location might look like.
I’ll be adding more and more locations to this list as I continue to explore Sedona and find more gems for locations to get married at.
There are other locations in Sedona that I know of and have shot at in the past. Due to the increase of popularity of Sedona, I have had to stop recommending certain spots because it can be impossible to get to certain areas due to how many people are at one place.
If you have heard of a location in Sedona that I have not listed, feel free to reach out to me to see if I know of it and can recommend it to you!
I have provided pictures for some of these locations but please do your own research of these locations yourselves to make sure they are what you are envisioning! Feel free to ask more questions about any spot you’re interested in!
